September – Fair + Show and Tell
Following our business meeting, we will have our traditional September Sharing Meeting. Members (and guests too) are invited to share work in progress or completed work. It might be a fiber event attended, like a workshop, lecture or show. Fiber-related classes or events run by our teachers. Interest groups summer projects.
October – Wet Felting
Speaker: Sahar Jabr
Title: Painting with wool: Stories, Texture and Felted Art
Fiber artist Sahar shares her journey into wet felting and contemporary art, showing how wool, silk, recycled fabrics can be transformed into expressive textiles pieces inspired by memory, nature and personal stories.
October Workshop – Wet Felting
Speaker: Sahar Jabr
Title: Bowl/Vessel Making
Discover the art of welt felting by creating a sculptural bowl or small vessel using merino wool, silk, and textured fibers. Participants will explore layering, color and resist techniques. This hands on workshop is playful, relaxing and suitable for beginners as well as experienced fiber artist curious about felt making.

November – Make and Take
This meeting will be “Make and Take”. We will have 3 projects to choose from. Pick one or all three to do. Materials will be provided. One of the projects will be weaving a reindeer, taught by Susan Penney. The other 2 projects are TBD at this time.
February – Silk: From Silkworms to Fabric
Speaker: Esther Peregrine
Esther Peregrine began raising silkworms in 2006 and she fell in love with the whole progression of watching the silkworms grow and make their cocoons, transforming the cocoons into yarn or thread and ultimately weaving or knitting a finished silk scarf or shirt. She also had the opportunity to participate in a Silk Study Tour to Japan in 2023. Join her for an overview of Bombyx mori silkworm rearing, silk reeling, and weaving from ancient times to the present.
February Workshop – Introduction to Silk Reeling
Speaker: Esther Peregrine
Title: Introduction to Silk Reeling
Experience the ancient art of reeling silk thread from cocoons. Use traditional Japanese silk reels (zaguris) and learn simpler options, too. With the reeled silk, learn how to make 3 types of silk thread: flat silk, silk tram, and silk organzine. Spinning is required to make tram and organzine.
